There were an estimated 1.7 million new HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa in 2007—a significant reduction since 2001. However, the region remains most severely affected. An estimated 22.5 million people living with HIV, or 68% of the global total, are in sub-Saharan Africa. Join the Global Peace Tiles Project to make AIDS history!

The goal of the World AIDS Day Peace Tiles project is to raise awareness about the vulnerability of various groups -- children and youth, women and girls -- to HIV/AIDS, and to provide them with a vibrant, dynamic means for self-advocacy and self-expression.
