Event: Ceramic Exhibition by Meliha Coskun Tuna at the 36th Annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival - The Silk Road Connecting Cultures, Creating Trust

Meliha Coskun Tuna is one of the most celebrated ceramic artists in Turkey. She not only creates modern designs, but is an authority on early Ottoman and Seljuk pottery and tiles, a tradition that reaches back over a thousand years. She also has studied the later Iznik (Nicean) classic techniques. She uses these superb traditional designs in her own ceramic works. Honored world wide, she has exhibited in New York, Berlin, and London, among exhibitions in various European and North African countries. Her work is carried in the gift shops of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, and the Ministry of Culture Gift shops throughout Turkey.
