AN AWARENESS CREATION PROJECT ON VOLUNTEERISM IN TURKEY

On December 5th, 2003 we launched our online project, called 'How Voluntary is Turkey?, with the hope of creating awareness among all sectors regarding volunteerism. Our goal was not only to bring this very special day, 5th of December, to attention, but also inform people about the added value of volunteerism in all sectors. Our focus was particularly to promote volunteerism in implementing corporate social responsibility and good governance programs as well as sharing know-how and expertise among non-profit organizations and individual volunteers. The project included an online questionnaire that was completed on 31st of January 2004.

We used Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in our informative campaign with the aim of reaching as many individuals/ organizations as possible. ICT has helped us to get connected with people who are doing amazing voluntary work in their own disciplines. We finalized our report / study in April 2004 and sumitted our report to UNV.
